1. Photo of an uncommon fruit or vegetable. You don't have to grow it,
just photograph it.
2. Submissions may be color or b/w.
3. Print size no larger than 5 x 7, no smaller than 3 x 4.
4. You may submit slides or negatives as well as photographs.
5. You may send in up to 20 of your favorite photos.
6. Digital files may be submitted as follows:
A. Image File no larger than 5 Meg
B. Image Resolution 12-2400 dpi
C. Image Format: tiff, Photoshop
Note: As we may need to print the file, .gif or .jpg may not be suitable
7. Eligible Photos:
A. Fruit-ripe or ripening, cut or whole.
B. Close-ups of a flower from your fruit tree.
C. Fruit/seeds/flower artistic arrangement.
D. Tree or plant as a whole.
E. Label your photo/slide and include as much of the following information
as you can:
1. Name of plant: common, scientific
2. Your name as photographer and contact information (address, telephone,
email)
3. Date and location taken
4. Equipment/film/exposure
Note: Most of you will only be able to fill out some of this information
- that's okay.
8. Ineligible Photos:
A. Any photo not your own
B. Any photo where copyright is held by another
C. Previously published photographs where the copyright was assigned for
more than a single use or where other restrictions apply.
D. Any photo we deem inappropriate.
9. Prize Awards. The top photos will be posted on our web site as "winners".
First place photo receives a first edition, hard bound copy of William Whitman's
Five Decades with Tropical Fruit. Second place receives a grafting kit. Third
and fourth place receive a set of fruit note cards. At the discretion of
the contest promoters, prize awards may be canceled or expanded, depending
on the number of entries. Judges' decisions are final. At the close of the
contest, the winning photos and a list of winners will be posted to the web
site.
10. Ownership of Photos. One purpose of this contest is to build a collection
of photographs to use for educational and other purposes. All photographs
sent in become the property of Quisqualis or its designee. Recognizing
the need for researchers to use their own photos (and the difficulty in producing
them) we will assign back to the photographer reproduction rights (electronic
and print) on their request. No materials can be returned.
Privacy. No contact information for entrants will be given out. Unless an anonymous listing is requested the name of the entrant may be listed.
