Reorganized in 2012 (Formerly Sarasota Fruit & Nut
Society
Located in South West Florida on the Gulf of Mexico. They have
about 100 members of all levels of experience.
Stated Object of Organization
To be an active, non-profit organization dedicated to the following
objectives: To introduce, propagate and distribute the many rare
tropical and subtropical fruits grown throughout the world; to
educate its members and the public as to the merits of these plants;
and to encourage and extend their cultivation.
The Sarasota Fruit Society has moved to a new location and day:

I-75 Directions:
Coming from the north on I-75, take the Fruitville exit (#210) west
to Tamiami Trail (US 41), go south on 41 to S. Palm Ave.
Coming from the south on I-75, take the Bee Ridge exit (#207) west
to Tamiami Trail (US 41), north on 41 to S. Palm Ave. Left
turn into Selby Gardens. Park in the first lot on the left
(overflow lot).
Tamiami Trail Directions:
From Tamiami Trail (Highway 41), turn onto Palm (right hand turn if
you are coming from the North and left turn if coming from the
south). Once on Palm make the first left into the overflow parking
lot. This is not the paved lot closer to the normal Selby entrance
but the overflow lot. This lot is closer to the Activity Center
where we will have the meeting. From the parking lot, on foot,
go to Palm Ave where you will see a wooden gate which should have a
sign saying “Sarasota Fruit and Nut Society†with
directions. Go through the gate and walk west toward the bay. The
entrance to our venue, “The Great Room by the Bay,†is
up a ramp just past the greenhouse.
Meeting:
Meets the third Wednesday of each month at 6:30 PM, most
months feature a knowledgeable speaker. There are 30 minutes
allotted to tasting, socializing and perusing the library and club
sales items; at 7:00 our meeting begins with about 30 minutes of
business and announcements, and we then introduce the speaker of
the month. Visitors and guests are welcome and encouraged.
Membership is $20-US per family.
