Figure 9.-Avocado, in many forms, is great in the Tropics and even the warm Temperate Zone. Apples, of course, are very important, but the majority are produced in the Temperate Zone. Mangoes (fig. 7) are tropical fruits that are still underutilized. Most of the production in India is for local consumption. Other outstanding fruits in international commerce are pine-apples (fig. 8) and avocadoes (fig. 9). The date (fig. 10) is really a subtropical or warm temperate fruit. |
